The Piece
A fine French Bergère à oreilles — the classic high-winged armchair of the Louis XVI period — presented here in exceptional condition following professional restoration. Ready for immediate placement in a luxury interior.
The upholstery is a velours d'épinglé in a bold floral pattern of amaranth, crimson and violet — a noble cut-and-loop moquette of the type historically associated with the finest French upholstery traditions. Unusually, the chair is fully upholstered to the rear, allowing it to stand freely in a room as a sculptural centrepiece.
The carved solid wood frame retains a natural edge patina consistent with age. No woodworm. The base is constructed on solid jute webbing, ensuring structural stability and full comfort. A statement piece — equally at home in a collector's interior or a considered maximalist room.

Construction & Detail
Carved from solid wood throughout, the frame shows a natural patina along the edges consistent with age and handling. Structurally sound with no woodworm or damage to the carved elements.
The upholstery fabric is a velours d'épinglé — a noble cut-and-loop moquette with a structured pile surface. The amaranth and violet floral pattern is bold without being decorative excess. No signs of wear.
Unusually, the chair is upholstered in the same fabric on the back, making it fully presentable from all angles — a mark of quality and an asset for open-plan or centrally placed furniture arrangements.
The seat is built on solid jute webbing — the traditional foundation of high-quality French upholstery — providing full structural support and long-term comfort without sagging.
The chair has undergone professional restoration and is in perfect technical and aesthetic condition. It is ready for immediate placement in a luxury or curated interior without further intervention.
A natural fit for Maximalist interiors, Modern Classic schemes or as a statement piece in a more restrained setting. Works particularly well paired with dark lacquered or gilded furniture.
